First impression

I'm a big fan of watching hot gay solo masturbation, especially when the studs get so into it that they lean back and really start going wild with their hands. When it comes in HD, that has me drooling faster than if they had sent a few of their sexy amateurs over to masturbate in my house. Gay Solos takes you on a wank filled journey with studs all over the place, and if the big dicks on the tour are any indication there's a lot of eye candy waiting for you.

The member's area has the same tour feel – it's very blue, with a fresh and modern style that looks really good. Everything is divided up into sections on the navigation bar, so it looks like it will be pretty easy to get around. The latest updates are listed on the page, and underneath that you get to take a look at the bonus site updates as well.

Our opinion

Gay Solos might not be the only gay masturbation site out there that has HD video, but there still aren't a ton of them so it caught my interest right away. Unfortunately my enthusiasm waned as soon as I took a look at the dates on the updates. There hasn't been an addition to Gay Solos since 2007. So right away the updated weekly claim on the tour is thrown out the window, and I'm left wondering what I'm actually getting in the site.

There are 24 videos and 6 photo sets in total. You can see the general neglect that the site has, as half of the video listings don't have the thumbs. A lot of the videos are split up clips from one big movie, so you aren't going to see as many different guys as you might expect.

The video page is nicely laid out with a streaming window right underneath the description, and then three different options for both streaming and downloads. The options are identical whether you opt to download or you want to see it right now. The HD WMV is shown at 1280x720 and 2 mbps, so at the very least they do offer the HD videos promised on the tour. There two smaller versions, WMV and Quicktime, come in at 380x214 and 500 kbps. The videos are a little bit longer than average for a solo masturbation scene at 15 minutes each, which is always nice. The camera work itself could have been a bit better – it was a bit on the shaky side, and for HD videos I was expecting a bit better lighting as well. Now to get back to the fact that many of these videos are in two or three parts – this means that you don't get a cumshot in every video. In fact, most of the first parts are just the interview with the guy, and maybe a bit of stripping. For a gay masturbation site as small as this one, this is just such a gigantic turn off.

The photo section needs a hell of a lot of TLC, because it's a bit of a mess. The galleries are missing tons of thumbnails, at least half of the pictures I clicked on simply don't work (they take me to an error message), and there are no extra features like zip downloads or slideshows. The photos that do show are average quality and 600x900, with 100 photos per set.

Gay Solos does offer a few bonus sites with your membership. There is another HD gay porn site called Gay Sex Resort, two gay reality sites called Gay Hitchhiker and Super Twink, and 20 third party feeds. The sites offered are run by the same folks behind Gay Solos, so the layouts are very similar and it makes for an easy transition. For some reason, there are four more third party feeds listed under another section.

Conclusion

Gay Solos might look like a delicious dish on the outside, but inside it's just bad. The collection is small, many videos are cut into smaller clips so that you aren't getting masturbation or a cumshot in every video, the photo section is mostly broken, and there are no updates. Look elsewhere if you want to see high quality solo masturbation.
