First impression

Home Grown Video has been around since 1982, basically inventing amateur homemade porn as we know it today. They were the first company to compile this stuff and sell it on DVDs you could buy. Though the website isn't that old it looks to be a pretty good representation of what the company is all about, offering a lot of content, lots of media options and a good variety of amateur smut. We're given plenty of good reasons to sign up on the tour, such as unedited content, lots of updates, exclusive material and niche material.

Our opinion

Homegrown Video was a bit of a beast to be honest, and I do mean that in a good way. I say beast because there's just so much going on that it is difficult to dominate the site and get your bearings. After just skimming through pages and sections I settled in, a bit more orientated, and started checking out the content.

I began my journey in the videos section. This is a site all about amateur video, after all. Right away I was presented with a list of categories to choose from: Amateur videos, Vintage videos, Homegrown Allstars, Classic Streams, Pro-Am videos, "before they were pornstars" and Homegrown office workers. A lot of these are pretty self explanatory I think in what sort of porn is offered.

I really liked their approach to organizing the content, especially that they created a separate space for Pro-Am stuff. I dislike having real, raw homemade video mixed in with more professional, yet still amateur, productions. They are in my opinion very different and while i like both, I enjoy being able to choose one or the other here depending on my mood. The All Stars section was a hit as well, with all the most popular girls and couples being grouped together in one place. I was surprised also by the Before They Were Pornstars category. A lot of famous girls had their first break here!

In terms of sexual action there isn't much you won't be able to find here. There are plenty of couples licking and fucking each other to orgasm. Some share their fetishes, like foot jobs or ass worship. There are sex scenes in the shower and in the living room. Swinger couples get together to make orgy movies. A lot of this stuff is really homemade smut, too. The guy sets up the camera in the room and they go at it. You can tell these are real couples by how they touch and make love to one another.

Movies can be streamed online in multiple Flash video settings. You can also stream them in Windows Media files in multiple settings. Save the videos to your hard drive as full-length scenes or as a series of shorter clips. You'll find Super HQ Windows Media download options for the full-length scenes. These were 640x480 pixels and 3.8 mbits/s. For amateur porn, they look pretty good. Being amateur it also suffers in some ways. The lighting isn't always perfect, the camera work is sometimes really poor, but the gusto and desire of the performers really makes up for it. If you're into amateur content then you're of course familiar with its hang ups.

Do realize that the further back into the library you go the worse your media options will become. Flash videos aren't available for older movies, at least not in the same quality options. The vintage stuff is generally not available in as good of options, either.

After pillaging the videos a good while I switched gears to the photo galleries. These aren't organized by default into categories, but there is a drop down menu you can pick categories from, thus limiting the galleries displayed to those in that category. There were fewer image sets than movies but then I had anticipated that. The images are sometimes high resolution. More often they are video stills from the movies. The sizes of these really varied quite a bit, but most weren't very large. Sets could vary in size but most offered 50-100 pictures or stills. You could adjust thumb size for browsing. I didn't see zip file downloads.

There were still more sections to investigate. There was a huge library of erotic stories and even better a bunch of community features like profiles, galleries of members, a member messaging system and a forum. A lot of those that make tapes and submit hang here so you can meet others, get advice for making your own movies, request more from those you're following and generally be a part of the really great community here.

The live cams takes you to a third part site (owned by Homegrown but not part of your membership).

Homegrown adds several videos a day, every day. All together you're looking at constant updates on top of thousands of videos that provide decades-worth of amateur homemade porn. Without a doubt this is one of the best sites in this niche, period.

Conclusion

Homegrown Video is a brand you can trust. They've been cranking out amateur sex DVDs since '82 and their website carries on that same tradition.
