Review summary: Mask TV offers regular people to live out their fantasies and to star in a professionally produced porn scene. Reality is that the amateurs don't really deliver the performance and that the video quality is terrible and far from high def as was promised.

First impression

“A premium site” with one hundred percent exclusive content, Mask TV has been “fulfilling the sexual fantasies of it members since 1998.” (I’ve been fulfilling the sexual fantasies of my member since 1999.) Mask TV fulfills sexual fantasies by giving its members the opportunity to write in with their fantasies and then shoot these fantasies with the Mask TV crew — Mask TV is kinda like the Make-a-Wish Foundation for horny dudes who don’t have cancer (yet). The amateur members-cum-performers wear masks during the shoots, hence the name Mask TV.

Our opinion

This is how things are done at Mask TV (much of the following text was lifted directly from the site): First, you write down your wildest sexual fantasy in as much vivid detail as possible, thus making it “legal and achievable.” Steamy fantasy penned, you send it to the good folks at Mask TV via email. Upon approval by the so-called Mask TV fantasy selection committee, you meet the Mask TV team at their Vancouver, Canada studio, where you will be shown around and introduced to the production crew — this is your opportunity to decide if the Mask TV experience is right for you. Once you’ve given the matter some careful consideration and have decided to move forward with Mask TV, it’s time to head off to the doctor’s office and get tested for sexually transmitted infections. Even though condoms are always used on set, it is Mask TV’s policy that all participants also produce a clean bill of health from their doctor. A few days before your Mask TV shoot, you visit the gang again at their downtown studio to go over all the last-minute details — they’ll scan your ID, take your STI test results, show you the photos of the sexy men and/or women who will appear in your fantasy and answer any final questions you may have. FYI, Mask TV candidates are NOT paid for their performances but they do get to keep a copy of the edited fantasy including still photos. Incidentally, no masturbation, sex or orgasms are allowed for twenty-four hours before the shoot. On the day of your Mask TV fantasy shoot, you go to the studio, where everything has been expertly prepared for your experience — the set has been dressed, the talent has been made-up, etc. You are interviewed and then fucked on camera for thirty to forty-five minutes. In a couple of weeks, your Mask TV DVD will be ready for you to pick up and your shoot will be added to the site. Bask in the glow of knowing that, for one day, you were a porn star!

Here’s what you get with your membership to Mask TV: unlimited access to the flagship site Mask TV as well as one hundred percent access to all of the other premium member sites in Mask TV’s network, including Meet My Secretary, Maidens of Mask TV, Lesbo Room and Girls Like Fun, daily updates, high definition videos with no DRM, fifteen percent off all DVDs and a virtual community where members can interact with one another and share their fantasies. Currently, there are three hundred hours of filmed fantasies, over forty thousand images and over two thousand videos on Mask TV (to be fair, I think Mask TV is including bonus material in that number — I personally counted just twenty-four videos, a far cry from “over two thousand”). There are also live shows, videos-on-demand, exclusive Mask TV merchandise, games, stories, erotica and DVDs. There’s so much stuff here, in fact, that the members area of Mask TV can be a bit difficult to navigate initially, as it is rather glutted with content — give yourself a few minutes to acclimate to the members area and you’ll be fine.

Each fantasy on Mask TV includes a pre-interview, the actual fantasy, an interview following the action, a behind-the-scenes bit, commentaries from the producer and director about the scene and a bunch of really crummy screen captures. All earlier fantasies and extra clips are downloadable in the Windows Media format (320x240 at 1 mbps) while newer clips are supposedly played in a Flash player Youtube-style. The movies however don't seem to load at all, making the newest episodes useless until that problem gets solved. All fantasies have pretty good production values — they look like little movies… with shitty acting and horrible-looking sets.

Some of the fantasies on Mask TV involve threesomes and even foursomes while others are one-on-one and some fantasies are fairly elaborate with storylines and acting while others cut to the chase and just feature sex. With genuine amateurs being utilized, the action tends to be more awkward than erotic at times. Granted, using real amateurs can make things more exciting, but, let’s face it, most of these guys don’t know what the hell they’re doing — if I wanted to see some out-of-shape jerk fumbling around inside of a woman pretending to enjoy herself, I’d videotape my own sexual escapades. And then I’d have one more reason to cry myself to sleep tonight… as if I needed another one…

Conclusion

Tackle my fantasy, Mask TV: I am in the South of France with a beautiful babe on my arm and my first novel, Go Ask the Nightingale, Lover of Mine, has rocketed up to the top spot of the New York Times Best-Seller List. Too difficult to pull off? Okay, here’s one that’s more “legal and achievable,” as it were: I’m watching dumpy guys struggle to maintain erections as they poorly fuck babes who clearly aren’t attracted to them. Success! Mask TV scores major points for being original, but it loses some points for having average content — while the premise for Mask TV is simply delicious, the execution leaves something to be desired. I guess this is what happens you use actual amateurs — the performances tend to be somewhat lacking.
