First impression

An introduction to Mr. Skin, “the world’s leading expert [sexpert?] on female nudity in film” and “the idiot savant of celluloid skin,” is unnecessary, but I’ll give one anyway because I’m a pro: Mr. Skin (probably a pseudonym) has parlayed his adolescent obsession with taping and cataloging celluloid sexiness into an empire of filth, one that has landed him a regular gig on The Howard Stern Show as well as a book deal (even I don’t have one of those and I’m awesome! Well, my mother thinks I’m awesome, anyway…). Mr. Skin’s success has not come easy, no sir — our hero has worked hard to get where he is today and he estimates that he’s viewed over twenty thousand movies; of course, he has no idea what any of ‘em were about cos he was too busy fast-forwarding to “the good parts” (no, not the car chases, silly, he was looking for the sex scenes!). Mr. Skin’s world-famous website bears the sweet, sweet fruit of his hard, hard labor (hey, fast-forwarding ain’t easy when one of your hands is busy workin’ your joystick! And I ain’t talkin’ ‘bout Nintendo here, buddy!).

It’s three in the morning and you’re all alone in your tiny efficiency. You’re lounging on your futon and, yes, you’re playing with yourself for the fifth time in the last twenty-four hours. Admit it: You’re wondering if Christina Ricci has even gone sans top in a major motion picture. Well, wonder no longer cos Mr. Skin and his devoted team of techno experts (sexperts?), “all just as shallow as [he is],” can tell you exactly what you need to know about Ms. Ricci’s proclivity for baring all in really lousy movies that you would never ever watch if Christina Ricci weren’t naked in ‘em. Not only that, but they can also show you these nude scenes with the aid of video clips and/or still frames. Skintense!

Our opinion

Log into Mr. Skin and you’ll be greeted by a wall of text presented in blog-like formatting. These entries are news items that contain bits of nudity. All in all, Mr. Skin is very well designed, with user-friendly menus and a great roll-over feature that lets you see what kinda filth can be found in the pictures and video clips available for download just by rolling your mouse over the images’ icons. Members can search for their favorite famous females, of which there are over fifteen thousand on Mr. Skin, by name or by title (there are over twenty-seven thousand movie titles and TV shows on the site). Within the movie and TV categories you can narrow your search by type of nudity, including public, cheerleaders, massage scenes, etc. Members can also search actresses by body characteristics like hair color, breast size, skin color and body type. Clearly, the search function is extensive for this site.

The bulk of the masturbatory content on Mr. Skin is, of course, made up of clips and screen captures from big budget Hollywood movies. The screen caps look as good as screen caps can be expected to look and the videos can be streamed or downloaded in Flash or Windows Media in two qualities. Oh, and they also look alright.

But Mr. Skin offers more than just screen captures and clips taken from mainstream movies — not only do you get pictures and video clips, but you also get a biography of the actress and a short synopsis of each film that the actress disrobes in. Also, each video clip comes with a little time code telling you at what point the nudity occurs in the movie and for how long it lasts. In addition, there is a “Skin Rating” which tells you how much actual nudity can be found in a given movie.

Other features on Mr. Skin include celebrity news, interviews with minor celebrities like cartoonists (questions often focus on the celebs’ first brushes with cinematic sauciness), information about nudity in films that are currently in the theaters and critiques of the newest DVDs containing nudity. All of this text is actually very well-written and entertaining to boot — you’ll spend just as much time reading the pun-filled text on Mr. Skin as you will beating off to the pictures (unless you’re illiterate, in which case I wonder if someone is reading this review to you and thus would be willing to read Mr. Skin to you as well). Members can also chat on the site’s message boards and ask Mr. Skin questions about movies and naked actresses (asking him about America’s dependence on foreign oil would probably be a big waste of your time, friend).

Conclusion

With nearly two hundred thousand pics and clips in his vast archive, Mr. Skin is clearly the king of celebrity nudity and his site is a sprawling nude celeb resource. Mr. Skin’s site is not only bursting with celebrity nudity, but it’s also a fascinating read — Mr. Skin is one of the few porn sites that is actually well-written.

In short, our hero has created “a giant website that rates and reviews virtually every mainstream film available (both domestic and skinternational [sic]) for... um... artistic merit (i.e., nudity content). This wealth of skinformation [sic] is supported, of course, by [Mr. Skin’s] ridiculously huge (and constantly growing) collection of pictures and video clips.” I couldn’t have said that better myself, which is why I opted to lazily quote it instead.
