First impression

If you aren't impressed with the introduction at Videobox, I can't help you. Here is a site with over 11,500 DVDs (over 65 thousand scenes), full of porn stars like Sasha Grey, Eva Angelina, and Amy Reid, that adds up to 5 new DVDs every single day, and offers you multiple download and streaming options, plus some High Def titles.

All for about half the price of any other DVD archive of its caliber, size or quality.

It would be seem too good to be true if I wasn't already familiar with VideoBox. We've reviewed them over a half dozen times over the years, and in late 2011, they are rocking harder than ever and have unveiled the new VERSION 3 of their site and members area which promises to be sleeker, easier to use, and more modern than the old version (still available if you prefer it).

We signed up again to see how things were on the inside. Read on for the in depth review.

Our opinion

Visiting the new version of VideoBox's members area (VB3) is like arriving to an entirely new site. Probably because you are, from a design and usage perspective. I knew that VideoBox has been working on this new design for quite a while, about seven months ago we were able to test drive a beta version, but the final product is really something special.

It's a clean interface that is easy to interact with and use. There are buttons for the important areas and manners of browsing: Movies, Scenes, Clips, Niches, your dashboard, your favorites, etc. Across the top is a search bar that nets great results. Within the results are tools for sorting them, such as by title, by date uploaded, by popularity and times viewed.

The only thing missing from that menu is a porn star list. You'll just have to look her name up, or if you spot her when browsing, click on her name under the thumbnail.

When you find something to watch, the player loads immediately, you just need to click start to get things started. It streams at a resolution of 640x480 pixels and looks very, very sharp, especially if the title has an HD option for downloading. You can skip ahead and rewind by clicking on the time-expired bar that runs below the picture.

As for the downloads, you have many options to pick from. There are WMVs with 720x480 screens and 3 Mbits/s bit rates. These are available for most movies. There are also full length MP4 downloads with 484x480 or 640x480 screens and 1.5 Mbits/s bit rates.

Videos with an HD option have an MP4 download with a 1280x720 screen and a 6 Mbits/s bit rate. These are full length scene downloads. If you want a shorter clip, you can actually make your own, putting together the parts of the action that were hottest for you and saving it in a file. It's like a highlight reel that you produced.

These HD downloads were new for us. In the past they had a few HD options but none were true high definition. These ones are. I'm glad to see they worked this out finally.

As for content the site is stronger than ever. They had 11,617 DVDs exactly the day of my visit for this review -- that will be a bigger number by the time you are reading and visiting, no doubt. They really do add about 5 new DVDs per day -- that's full DVDs, not scenes -- so the site grows rapidly, and there is always something new.

They work with over 150+ studios as well. These range from familiar and famous studios to lesser known and amateur houses. But you can count on having a huge representation of the hottest porn star talent here. There were two studios held apart, though. Vivid and Evil Angel are separate "channels" on the site that cost another $10 each to have access to. You can enjoy this site just fine without that access, but you do miss out on some great titles.

VideoBox has always excelled at delivering a really great package at a really cheap price. They still do this, if anything it's only getting to be a bigger and better deal as their library swells and swells and swells. They've now got footage of just about every porn star being fucked and cummed on, and with over 113 niches of porn that their scenes can be filed under, there is literally something here for everybody.

Conclusion

VideoBox remains one of the best and strongest porn sites on the internet, period. Cheap, huge in variety, top quality, it's really the best of all worlds in one fantastic package. With a new members area that makes enjoying the 65 thousand porn scenes here easier than ever before, and better media options than we've found on previous visits, VideoBox is a top pick.

Competitors

VideoBox may be at the top of its game, but it isn't alone when it comes to DVD archives offering somewhat similar deals and content. The DVD Archive is one of the best selling types of sites online.
