Our opinion

The episodes can be very intense, interspersed with playfulness despite some hardcore pain. At times, there's some giggling and laughter, as well as tears, with a good connection between the master and sub being quite obvious and integral to the interactions. Many slaves slip into subspace, which shows the trust that's exhibited between slave and master. Each scene is designed to be an education of sorts, helping the slaves become better - i.e., overcoming their petulance, stubbornness, or resistance to following their dominant's dictates.

The BDSM scenes are packed with caning, bondage, suspension bondage, wax play, needle play, heavy corporal punishment, tit and pussy torture, hair pulling, spitting, face slapping, and much more. There are over 30 subs who experience such slave treatment inside Shadow Slaves. Each of them is unique, so they don't all look like cookie cutter submissives. You'll see mostly women from eighteen and up to the early twenties, but there are also a few more mature submissives here, as well as a variety of ethnicities: Asian, Ebony, and Indian. Most of the women I've not seen elsewhere, but there are a couple notables in here: Madison Young and Kumi Monster. In addition to the various physical types, you'll also see a range of attitudes from petulant subs who have a lot of pride to serene subs who are pliable and willing to please their master as soon and as fully as possible.

The archive is pretty sizable, thanks to two videos being uploaded every week, as well as photo galleries released on a regular basis. There weren't specific dates on the content in the library, though; instead they notify you of the date of the most recent update (2 days prior to my visit, right now) and distinguish the new content when browsing through their gallery and video pages.

The movie archives go all the way back to 2003, with each year containing over 100 video clips. These video clips are part of a full length scene that generally contains 5 or 6 video clips each. Each video is around 10 minutes in length; thus, the entire scene is approximately 45 minutes to an hour. These clips you can either download or stream as Windows Media files. Additionally, if you prefer to watch a full length movie, you can download each episode in its entirety as a single download.

Most of the videos open in Windows Media in low res with 320x240 screens (256 Kbps) or high res with 720x576 screens (2060 Kbps). The quality is all right, but nothing special, and that goes for the sound as well. With intense BDSM scenes it's always good to be able to hear the dialogue. As Shadow Slaves usually usually has a lot of talking in their scenes, the decent sound is a certain plus. But don't worry - they're not all talk. In fact, the scenes show a wonderful balance between the physical and psychological, with plenty of physical torment and plenty of erotic humiliation and emotional discomfort!

For some of the newer updates they've increased the quality of the High res downloads to 720p HD. These are Windows Media files still, but now with 1280x720 screens (4 mbits) and a great quality playback.

Each episode contains links to photographs. These pictures open to 720x576 pixels and are actually just screencaps. They're fairly good quality for screencaps, at least. Unfortunately, there's no zip download option available for these screencap galleries, which average around 100 pictures each.

For high resolution quality photos that go with each video clip, just click over to "pictures" or browse the galleries section separately. These photos open to 797x1200 pixels and are a great quality. The amount of pictures in each gallery varies widely, but I'd say the average is around 125. Most of these galleries are zip downloadable as well.

There's nothing shadowy or vague about the navigation within Shadow Slaves. It's simple and straightforward, with menu links to movies, pictures, forum, and slaves. Unfortunately it fails to offer much more than that - you'll have to choose many videos and galleries based on generic text links like "Gallery 04", as an example. They do have things organized, but there aren't any search tools or filters. Just headings with links beneath each.

Conclusion

Shadow Slaves is a very good bdsm site for those who want to see extreme BDSM.

While it's true there are more and more BDSM sites on the internet, this site should be at the top of your list to check out as you won't find the usual BDSM models here; in fact, they're lifestyle masochists. As the site boasts, you'll see: "Real tears, real pain, real fear and real orgasms from genuine lifestyle slave girls." The dynamics between the master and slave are genuine. Regular, high quality updates keep things interesting and entertaining. The site is a bit poor in navigation and layout, but contains some excellent content that is definitely worth seeing for those with a taste for the extreme.
