First impression

Flat Fee Cams sounded like a great idea to me. Anyone that's been to a live sex cam site knows that it can get very expensive very quickly, so having a low, fixed fee every month and unlimited cam access almost seemed too good to be true. The site looks sharp and the European girls I see half naked in the preview thumbnails look gorgeous. I'm very excited to test this site out and see if it really offers everything a normal live cam site does but with a single, low monthly fee instead of by the minute rates.

Our opinion

Flat Fee Cams has its value, that much I can say for sure after spending a good deal of time on their site and exploring the different models they have performing. That being said, being a good value does not in anyway mean it is free of issues and problems. The site has a fair deal of quirks and annoyances. It will be up to each surfer whether the good outweighs the bad, but for me it most certainly did.

The first thing I looked at were just how many models were online at any given time and how many were registered on the site as a whole. On a good and conventionally organized cam site we can expect hundreds, if not more. At FlatFeeCams there are 27 "channels", of which 24 of them were online at the time of my visit. These have titles like "Prague Girls 1", "Show Girl 1", "Studio Cam HD", "Euro Hardcore" and "Lesbo Cam HD". The girls appear to change as the day goes by. Obviously we have less overall cams to choose from than a conventional site, but a good range of performers are covered here -- there are BBW Girls, busty girls, college girls, lesbian cams and hardcore couples. Those seeking gay or shemale action won't find any.

I personally felt that having fewer "channels" to watch at any given time was acceptable, given that the monthly fee would only get me about 5-10 minutes of action a month on those other conventional cam sites.

My next point of interest lay in the quality of the cams, and in this regard it's hard to pin Flat Fee Cams down. That's because many cams will vary. I checked dozens, and had a variety of resolutions -- 640x480, 640x360, 320x180 and 1280x720. The HD cam is the last one listed, but because of the low bitrate of the stream it doesn't look as good as the smaller ones. In my experience, those that offered 640x360 looked the best, with bitrates as high as 900 Kbps and up to 25 FPS. Unfortunately you'll have to just pick a channel and see what you get.

One thing I wasn't too happy about was that all videos streamed in a Windows Media files. For those on Windows Machines that video should stream embedded in the browser. I was on a mac and it popped up in a new window (after I downloaded a special plugin for QuickTime). They do not use a Flash video player, which is the standard on cam sites. All of the cams at least worked, which is more than I can say for the chatrooms. Simply put, I couldn't get any of the chatrooms to load properly on my Mac, and thus could never chat with models or lurk and watch other conversations. That also means I can't really confirm if the Live cams are actually live or not, though they appear to be. I later tried it on a Windows machine where they worked fine though.

So where does that leave us? The cam site isn't as flashy, well put together or varied as the more conventional sites, but it's also just a fraction of the cost and offers unlimited access. The site doesn't include any other extras, bios, galleries or other goodies, just the 27 channels and 24/7 live performances.

Conclusion

If you are on a budget and want to enjoy live interaction with models for more than a few minutes a month, you will get the most out of a membership here at Flat Fee Cams. So long as they're okay with rotating models, varying cam quality and some nonfunctional quirks in the website. If you're a surfer that demands high quality and being able to select a particular model, it may not be for you, but if a steep discount makes up for the dip in quality, Flat Fee Cams will make a great buy.
