First impression

Porn Access claims to be the web's biggest site network with over 1,680 sites and counting. Indeed there does look to be a huge variety of erotic fun going on here, with everything from hardcore amateur action to fetish, MILF, creampies and gang bangs. According to the time stamps on content on the tour page the site appears to have new material or new sites added pretty regularly each week and has lots of ways to browse. They have a quick guide to how it all works you can read, which basically says you sign up, log in and type in keywords or browse through their categories looking for what you're into, then choose to stream it or download it to your computer (without limits or DRM restrictions).

It's starting to sound to good to be true: 1,680 SITES? That's crazy! Let's get inside and see if it's all as perfect as it looks from out here.

Our opinion

Porn Access is nothing if not huge. Logging in you'll find that the members area isn't all that different from the tour pages we were looking through on the outside, only now you'll have clear links pointing you to the porn, which of course you can access as you desire. I might as well point out right now that the site is true to its promises of DRM-free content and unlimited access. I had unlimited access to all of the network sites, streaming videos and downloadable videos and at no point ran into any limits, even when cranking up multiple downloads.

As most things in life, if it seems too good to be true then it probably is. This is the case with Porn Access when it comes to those 1,680 porn sites. Yes, there really are that many, but no, they aren't original, unique sites with large libraries of porn. All of the content here is taken from DVDs and then sorted out by niche or pornstar to create mini-sites within the network. These are one page sites with thumbnails and quick links to the download pages of the videos. They are not updated and hardly count as a "site" in my opinion with most having just 9 scenes to view. I think in a lot of ways, this set up was just used as a creative tool to promote the network. 1,680 sites sounds bigger than 1,680 DVDs, or something similar.

The tour claimed this site was fast, but on my DSL connection (768kbps), which is pretty standard for most users, page loads were slow. The core of the network was pretty fast, but stepping out on to those mini-sites will be slow, tediously at times.

It's not all dour news, though. Porn Access does have some qualities that stand out, like their 25 Premium sites, which are basically the sites that are offering HD content. They are still simple like the other sites, but are larger. For example, you'll have their Hustler site that has 43 scenes on it, Bug Butt Brotha Lovers with 81 scenes and Roller Dollz with 77 scenes. Most of the sites aren't that big, though averaging from 12 to 25 scenes each.

These HD 'premium' sites offer 1280x720 pixel streaming Flash videos that look fantastic, but were a little slow to load. You can download full-length versions of the scenes on these sites in Windows Media files in BIG and SMALL versions. The BIG movies are 1920x1080 pixels with 6.6 mbits/s bit rates. The SMALL versions are 1280x720 pixels with 2.7 mbits/s. Both are true HD, 1080p and 720p respectively and look great.

The rest of the sites offer you good options, too. They all have the Flash streaming movies, but they are smaller with 720x528 pixel resolutions. Their BIG and SMALL download options are both full-length Windows Media files but these too are smaller: 720x528 pixels at 3.2 mbits/s and 320x236 pixels @ 500 kbits/s. None of the movies on the entire network come with clips, just these three viewing and download options.

There weren't any picture galleries here, nor was their a model index, which leads me into the final part of this review: the navigation. In two words: it's okay. I didn't like not having a model index, but I could use their search to type in a model's name and get results. I also didn't like that I had to browse the movies by either searching for a keyword or by visiting the seemingly endless, slow-loading mini sites. An alternative way to browse it all at once would be nice.

I have just one more criticism of this site, and it's the endless cross-selling and advertising that fills up the pages as you browse, further slowing down browsing. I think it's absurd to pay the price you pay to be a member and still have to deal with such a large amount of product and site pushing.

Conclusion

I felt that Porn Access really could have been a great site. It has some of what's necessary: lots of good porn (even if it's from DVDs only), high definition downloads and good quality streaming movies. I just didn't like how the site set this content up in the mini-sites, though. They were tiresome to browse and really aren't separate porn sites, just one page galleries with links to a scene's download page. It's all right in the end, but it's a shame that the site gets in its own way so often. It could be so much more.
