Amateur boyfriends have become more and more popular, especially when the photos and videos actually look like they've come right from guys' cell phones, Facebook pages and other candid sources for real amateur photos. The tour promises all sorts of homemade fun, so let's see if they really deliver on all of these promises.

The member's area has a clean, albeit very template-like feel. The various sections along the top of the page take you to the pictures, videos and other site sections so you can easily jump around. The latest submissions are shown underneath in the main content section, and that's about it as far as layout.

Our opinion

Self Shot Boys already fails on the daily update promise on the tour, because it looks like they're sitting on weekly updates at the fastest. That's a bit disappointing, but let's see exactly how much material they do have in the collection already. There are 10 photo sets and 14 video sets, so I'm going to go ahead and say that that's hardly the 100 gigs promised on the tour page. This is a newer site, but it certainly isn't living up to the tour promises at all. There are also polish issues, such as broken images and distorted thumbnails, that give this site a very thrown together impression.

The videos are shown in a 720x480 Flash streaming video, with approximately a 1 mbps bitrate. The streaming version is the only video option available. The buffering is rather quick, so you're at least not left waiting for the action. It varies between solo and couples, and does give a gay homemade porn impression.

The photo galleries don't really lend itself to the reality of a self-shot photo set at all, as the sets have over 50 pictures per set on average, all as part of a series. You really don't get that in actual homemade porn, so they're making it hard for the suspension of disbelief to actually occur. The photo quality is average amateur and shown at 1024x768.

The bonus section at Self Shot Boys consists of preview galleries to various sites mixed in with third party feeds. It's not a large section, and it doesn't really lend itself to the theme of the site so you probably won't get much mileage here.

Conclusion

Self Shot Boys promises a lot and delivers little. The tour talks up the large amount of content and daily updates, but this is one of the smallest gay boyfriend sites I've seen yet. It needs a much larger collection and believable photo sets for this to really get anyone wanking.
