First impression

It's hard to resist the seductive eyes of a sultry Turkish man, but they're almost impossible to find in gay porn. The member's area is rather plain looking. I was hoping we'd go for some more dark and mysterious, myself. There's an extensive and helpful introduction that introduces you to the navigation of the site, along with tips on how to make the movies play properly. Navigation is handled by way of a few drop down menus at the top of the page. The bonuses, recent updates, and a link for feedback are also included on the main page. The content is not dated but it looks like they're on at least a weekly update schedule.

Our opinion

The main menu drop down gives you the broad options of getting around IstanBoys. There's Istanboys content, Turkish / Arab VOD, the two areas of bonus content, and guides to Istanbul. The photo drop down allows you to jump right to the set that you want to see. You'll make use of those to get to your favorites. The video drop down gives you format options to look at the IstanBoys videos with.

I wasn't a fan of the listing setup. It uses a photo album setup, similar to what you might see on an amateur photography portfolio. The software that they're using is PhotoPost PHP, so it probably is the same one that you'll see from time to time elsewhere. It's just not particularly visually appealing, although features wise you have three different sort options to make it simple to get around and get things to your liking. There's also a keyword search at the top of the page.

There are 32 videos and 257 photo sets. Since there's so many photos, let's start off with those. The photo sets range from 30 pictures to over 100, depending on the boy they've got and how skittish he is. The photos are listed individually with file size and resolution information on each. The quality tends to be good, but the resolutions are all over the place. Some are small 640x512 photos, while others are 1000 on the long side. It just depends on the set you end up taking a look at, I suppose. The action is mostly solo on the whole, so chances are they have a few straight boys that are showing off too. There is a link to the slideshow on the individual photo pages, but no zip downloads.

The videos don't seem to be a big part of IstanBoys, although they do share them in three different formats. You get WMV, Real Media, MPG, and Quicktime selections. The video galleries feel a bit bare, mainly due to the fact that there are no thumbnails in this section. They have the same gallery template as the photo sets, so all of the same comments apply here. The videos are downloadable, although the on-page instructions are a bit odd – it tells you click the thumbnail, when there are no thumbnails. You just click the sentence talking about the mythical thumbnail to nab it. The video quality is unfortunately poor. The videos are shown at 320x240 and 200 kbps. Longer movies are divided into parts, but they all seem to be fairly short, under 10 minutes.

Now to the bonuses. The VOD is just an upsell VOD, so let's move on from that. The Male Movie Theater is a collection of 15 third party feeds that contain plenty of different porn niches. Maximo Latino is a separate feed from these, featuring Latin men. The real bonus of choice are the guides – they cover gay friendly hotels and clubs in Istanbul. Now that's a truly handy extra, don't you think?

Conclusion

Let's face it, you can't really find good Middle Eastern gay porn anywhere, so you're going to sign up for it. I wasn't a fan of the gallery layouts, and the video quality is horrible, but that balances out with the great quality photos and one of a kind nature of their content.
