First impression

Lust Cinema introduces you to its founder on the homepage, an artist named Erika Lust who has won awards as a writer and director of erotic films and books. She started this company in 2004 with the goal of creating an intelligent, sensual, and female-friendly erotic entertainment in a market that is otherwise male-dominated.

On the tour you can get a look at some of the titles and shorts she has on the site to enjoy, which range from spoofs, to erotic dramas, to short explicit flings. There are a few porn stars, some amateur girls, and pretty models who don't have the exaggerated and fake look that most porn stars do. Besides promising to offer you porn that couples will enjoy, the also promise HD downloads and streams. I signed up to have a closer look at what was on offer.

Our opinion

I signed up and logged in, and promptly found myself on the Lust Cinema member's zone homepage. There you'll find a dashboard and menu options to browse DVDs, chapters, models, and use various sorting and search tools to your my browsing. You'll also find links to your bonus sites, but more on those later.

A different kind of porn, great for couples

This isn't your typical hardcore porn site. Yes, the sex here is explicit - they show cocks, closeups of pussy, penetrations, even include a fair amount of anal sex and fetishes - but it's not imagined in the same way that most of the porn you've seen in your life has been.

The focus is on the sensuality, beauty, and connection between the lovers - be they two women, a man and a woman, or a group of people. The people are also very real - beautiful, but real. There's no gigantic fake tits with platinum blondes moaning and groaning without any sincerity. There is instead real people making love, enjoying really powerful moments together, and the orgasms are real.

A mix of explicit drama, comedy, fantasy and other niche content

A lot of the scenes here are produced like short movies, where sex is the most important component and takes up the most screen time. In a movie called Love Is A Dangerous Game, a writer switches to writing horror, and a famous and sexy male author agrees to show her the ropes - and much more besides. The intense sexuality between them gets called into question when his dark past surfaces... it's a romantic horror/comedy with a lot of great sex. Another film is a guide to anal Kama Sutra sex. Another, a short with erotic, artistic flair called 98bit. It's a pretty nice diversity of content, more focused on entertainment and erotic excitement then the vulgar hardcore you find on all those other sites out there.

Some HD video

HD is available for most of the scenes and movies at Lust Cinema. Usually, it's a 720p HD mp4 download with a 1280x720 screen resolution (3 mbits) that has a great playback quality. Some movies have a 1080p HD option as well, and most every scene comes with an SD mp4 download that opens to a 720x404 screen (2.2 mbits) and looks good.

You can download the movie as a full length scene in any of these formats, as they are available. You can also stream the scenes online instantly in a Flash video player with the same quality options available.

There were some picture galleries with a few of the movies, but mostly this site is focused on video alone.

Not a huge collection

There were a total of 67 movies (103 different chapters or scenes) at the time of my visit. These include titles like Uniform Behavior, The Best Of Liandra Dahl, Sex in Pregnancy and The Friend Zone. The site is updating regularly each week with new content and growing larger, but for a studio/DVD collection, I was expecting more content.

Bonus sites

As an extra you are given access to the Stiffia Network, which includes sites like WCP Club (porn stars, big tits, interracial) and Filthy Fisting to name just two. As you can see, these titles offer a much more conventional porn - more intense, vulgar, and male-dominated. They nonetheless add a nice diversity and alternative to the collection of porn you have access to as a member.

Conclusion

I was hoping that Lust Cinema would offer a larger library of content, but it is far from a small collection, and its original take on what makes hot erotica and porn makes it worth a closer look. For couples, I think this could be a real hit especially. The inconsistent availability of HD formats was another sore point though, so you'll have to take the good with the not-so-good with a subscription. If you're really interested in a different, more erotic and female-friendly type of porn, I have no doubt a subscription here will work out well for you.

Competitors

Dane Jones offers a library of erotic and sensual solo, lesbian and hardcore scenes that is also considered great porn for couples to watch together. I think it has a lot of the same qualities as Lust Cinema but at the same time its own identity and style - definitely worth taking a look at their HD collection.

Massage Rooms is another site with sensuality and something for both men and women (or couples together). These scenes are sensual rub downs, usually a woman rubbing down a man but sometimes vice versa and sometimes a woman rubbing down a woman. Most scenes include sex, lesbian or hetero, but some scenes are just hand job movies. A nice HD collection here.

If you like this more sensual, erotic style of hardcore then X-Art is worth a look as well. Very much an artistic erotica site, it focuses on hardcore sex and lesbian sex in its exclusive HD library of videos and galleries.
