First impression

Since our last visit to SimonScans in 2009, the site has tweaked its design and tour pages a bit, cleaned up the overall look of things and apparently grown significantly larger. The model and picture set counts have increased by a good amount. All signs point to Simon having kept himself very busy in the interim.

The staff here at the office have been huge fans of this site for years now, and I count myself among them. For that reason, I'm even more excited to see how the site has matured and grown in the last two years. Read on for an in depth report and review of what Simon Scans has to offer.

Our opinion

Back in 2009 SimonScans had a pretty verbose introduction and tour. They've slimmed that down now to just being a smorgasbord of picture samples and key promises as to the content types and numbers you can expect. The signup has also been simplified. It's a single page, each option clearly labeled and explained. Select the sort of membership you want and join with a click or even using your cell phone. Simon has always been very transparent when it comes to billing and he's still taking care of his members in 2011.

In terms of content he remains on the same track as always. The content is high quality and stars single models posing, stripping, and masturbating. There is a certain classiness to things, but Simon doesn't ever shy away from getting some explicit closeups of gaping pussies or assholes, or girls thrusting over-sized toys into themselves.

The models are amateurs mostly from around the UK. I saw a lot of European girls 18-26 years old as well as other countries, too.

While not really erotica, there is some element of artistic quality to the sets and videos. It may just be that Simon's skill with the camera gives it that edge. There isn't anything pretentious about the content, it's just well shot, with great models and great lighting and technical details that bring the quality out of the action.

The size of the images in the picture galleries has increased since our visit in 2009. I found shots in up to 1872x2808 resolutions. These are big and look fantastic. You can browse through the sets online in a gallery or download them in zip files that are easy to grab. Sets averaged a good number of shots in each.

The movies can be saved in clips. The download options include a 720p HD WMV file that has a 1280x720 screen (4 Mbits), a 720p HD MOV file with a 1280x720 screen (3 Mbits), and an MPEG alternative. These options are as good or a little better than what was here in 2009. Most of the movies run under 10 minutes long still.

These videos can also be streamed instantly online. They play in an embedded Flash video format. The resolution is smaller than the HD downloads (640x480) but the quality is good. These are very convenient ways to enjoy the content. You just hit play and enjoy, no need to wait for downloads to complete first.

SimonScans is weak in just one area: navigation. The site is nice and looks clean. There are clear links in the main menu to different areas on the site, but they still need to take things further. You have to browse by model names or by date. The layouts can be a little lacking in terms of information, and it's hard to keep track of what you've watched and where you've been. Their saving grave is a pretty handy search tool that lets you add filters for things like the girls' breast sizes or what they're wearing. I don't see why they can't use these tags and categories in the other areas of the site for browsing, too.

Simon is updating once every day with either one video or one photo set.

Conclusion

Simon Scans is a great pick for fans of solo masturbation, quality photography, and hot amateur models. The site is huge, grows with very regular updates, and offers high quality media options (HD, Hi Res). The site could use some tweaks and improvements but to non-essential aspects. Overall, it's a superb and unique collection of content and one that's very much worth joining.
