First impression

Gay Ultra is a new gay porn DVD download site brought to you by the folks behind Porn.com. They have plenty of experience in the paysite market, but most of it is focused on the straight side of things. The site looks new, shiny, and good, so it's time to take a look under the hood and see if you're getting everything that they're promising.

The tour and the member's area are pretty much the same, so you can get a good eyeful just poking around on the tour. You're getting pretty much every gay niche category from A-Z, and it looks like they have deals with plenty of studios to keep the variety and DVDs coming. Like most gay DVD sites, this is all nonexclusive content so you've probably seen at least a few of these videos before. The factors that they need to stand out are quality, features, quantity, and consistency.

Our opinion

There are 586 full DVDs offered at Gay Ultra, so it looks like they're certainly in their promised amount. This is a good size for a non-PPV gay DVD site and compares favorable to the rest of the pack. It's above average, albeit not the largest out of all of them. The site is updating with a DVD per day, so if they keep that up they're going to catch up quickly.

Another good aspect of Gay Ultra is the user friendly browsing. The categories are a prime choice for navigating through the collection, but you can also go by scene, series, DVD, or studio. There's also a keyword search that gets you right to where you want to go.

The DVD pages pages are well designed and organized. You're getting pretty much every piece of information that you could possibly want about the DVD. The models, studios, duration, update, rating, tags, and box cover are all given at the top. The individual scenes appear underneath, with the models starring in each scene and the duration. There are no full DVD downloads, but every scene ofers streaming or download options.

The video download and streaming page is the same. There's a big 720x480 streaming window that buffers the scene quickly, and under that is a download drop down. There are three different download options – two MP4s and an Ipod version. The qualities are 757x464 and 1.18 mbps, 757x464 and 750 kbps, and 480x270 and 300 kbps. The videos look pretty good overall – it's not knock your socks off quality, but it is good across the board. There are a few variations in production quality depending on the studio, but that's expected in this type of site. Each scene also has a full set of screencaps that you can take a look through before checking out the video. The galleries have zip downloads and are average quality caps shown at 757x464. There is an average of 200 caps per set.

Conclusion

Gay Ultra is a strong contender in the non-exclusive gay DVD area, given how much content it has when newly launched. The mix of categories and studios is excellent, and the site is incredibly user friendly. All they need to do is keep doing what they've been doing to make this one excellent.
