There are different keys to the answer:
- Simple cost/benefit analysis
- What level of quality are you satisfied with?
- Moral - nobody questions why you have to pay for car fuel or a book
Cost/benefit - How much time and effort are you willing to spend to avoid paying say 30 bucks for a month's membership?
It's fascinating how far many of us are willing to go in order to avoid paying for something. We put up with pop-up hells, the risk of spyware, thumbnails linking to completely different sites than the expected full-size image just to name a few annoyances. This is standard when searching for the free porn that we are looking for. Not to mention going through tons of sites and bookmarks to filter out the good free sites from the bad - trust me I've been there.
And unfortunately there isn't even such a thing as free lunch. You might not whip your credit card out and type in its numbers, but you pay for it one way or the other - in most cases with your time.
Sure enough - some people might like this "hunting process", and yes it can be fun at times - but most times you just want to find some good stuff, "get it over with" and get on with your life.

But why are we so reluctant to start paying for something? Porn is a product like everything else. Somebody has spent money producing it in the first place - the models don't work for free and the cameras and computers that edit the content afterwards also need to be paid for. And multiply this for each new episode of content added to its archive - sites update everywhere from never (the ones to avoid obviously) to several times a day (the really good ones).

The question of moral

Well, I personally consider porn a product like anything else. Like I mentioned earlier it takes money to produce (main cost), distribute (marginal thanks to the internet) and then obviously some profit on top of that.
I personally think the people who take up the task of producing quality porn despite society's views deserve the support of paying customers.
