First impression

Chaos Men just looks like the kind of site that you'll want to dive right into, right at first glance. It has a bit of an amateur feel to the tour, which actually works pretty well, although it does look somewhat busy. Chaos Men was formerly Chaos in Austin, and it's run by Bryan Ockert. He has a great eye for hot men, as well as capturing them perfectly. The guys look like they are in their mid 20s on average, and they're all along the lines of hunks and jocks.

The first thing that you'll see is a lot of information about the site technical wise, which is merited given the fact that they use the Silverlight platform. This is similar to Flash, but has a few specific attributes that makes it very interesting to try out. The latest videos and photos are shown underneath that, along with the bonuses.

Our opinion

I'm really liking what I'm seeing with Chaos Men so far, and I'm also rather pleased with the update schedule. Photos are updated once a week, while there's a video update once every 2-3 days. I can get down with that. There are 2,045 videos and 6,746 photo sets to browse around, with a keyword search feature that allows you to browse through everything with ease.

The overall setup is very user friendly, and one of the small touches that I really appreciated was the fact that the formats are clearly listed on the video thumbnails, as well as whether they offer HD or not. That makes it simple to see what's being offered, especially as you move further back into the collection. The video pages are very slick, and they're one of the nicest setups that I think I've ever seen. The description is contained in a box that you can open or close to find out what's going on with the model, and under that you have the screencap previews. There are only a handful of these, but they are some of the best quality small caps that I have ever seen.

The download options are off to the side, and for the latest videos you get WMV and Quicktime for your full scene downloads. There is Silverlight streaming, as I mentioned above, but you can also opt for a WMV stream if you don't prefer the other format. There's a lot of formats go to through, so let's start with the Silverlight. This is a technology that is not used on many porn sites, so it's exciting to see how they have implemented it on Chaos Men.

The Silverlight player pops open in a lightbox format, and the video looks spectacular. You can choose a 640x360 or 320x180 view, and it seems to be an incredibly smooth experience that has me craving this on all porn sites. There's nothing wrong with the WMV stream either if that's what you're in the mood for - and you can choose the same 640x360 or 320x180 resolution.

Now for the downloads - you're looking at a top quality of 1024x576 and 1.62 mbps. The bitrate is a little bit lower than what I was expecting, but the video itself is well shot and production values are generally high. There are two other resolution choices if you don't want to deal with the larger file size - 640x360 and 928 kbps and 320x180 and 600 kbps. There are also MP4 offered in the 640 and 320 resolutions, giving you a ton of choices when it comes to watching the videos. Older videos are a bit more limited format wise, although you'll find HD videos ranging very far back into the collection. The top quality of the older videos is 720x480 and 500 kbps.

Let's take a look at the photos. You can look through the pictures in a gallery or auto setting. The gallery setting gives you a nice setup that allows you to click through a frame with all of the thumbnails, with the main photo showing in a content box. The picture size isn't the largest at 720x480, but the quality is excellent. There's a standard HTML gallery if you'd rather have the tried and true basic layout, and an auto option if you want to get a slideshow. Oddly there are no zip downloads. There are 100+ photos per set, and they are very hot to look at.

If you need bonuses, there's a selection of AEBN feeds featuring a variety of gay porn niches. While these are non exclusive, if does give you plenty of videos if you need extra in between updates - although it's unlikely you're going to make it through the entire collection to get over to the bonuses.

Conclusion

Chaos Men has made a move to be one of my favorite gay amateur sites around - the men are drop dead gorgeous and manly as fuck, there are tons of features that make this site work great, and the content quality is off the hook. This is one of those sites that you'll just have to join in your gay porn watching career.
