First impression

Tommy D doesn't strike you as the kind of guy that's been in porn for 8 years. He just looks like your typical guy next door, a bit of muscle, a sweet smile, and a dick that will draw your eyes right to his bulge. Besides, you gotta love a guy that said he came to porn for the money, but stayed for the sex.

The tour and member's area are identical, so you can get a good sense of how the site is setup even before you venture inside. It looks like Tommy D has made a ton of friends, from muscle bound hunks to near twink college guys. They all succumb to the wonderful dick of Tommy, and of course he's up for guy on guy, threesomes, and more.

The member's area is laid out cleanly, with all of the section navigation listed across the top, and the updates in the main content area. There are 202 sets in total that consist of a 20 minute video, 50 photo screencap set, and 50 photo picture set. There are updates every week, and it looks like Tommy makes sure to keep things interesting by going around to different houses, various backyards, and a few other places that only this delightful perv would think of.

The movie listing page is the part of the site that I could really call annoying – they only put four videos per page, and they load each listing up with a ton of screencaps, the description, and the trailer. That's all stuff that should probably be on the individual page, for the sake of quick browsing. It's a minor problem, and probably wouldn't stand out if everything else wasn't so spot on here.

The individual video page has a high and low streaming Flash video, high and low quality WMV downloads, and a Quicktime download. None of the downloads have DRM, and they all come in full scene download. The file sizes are listed and tend to be on the larger side, with 100 megs for the smaller sizes and 300 for the larger. It would be nice if clips were available alongside the full scenes. The high quality WMV is shown at 720x400 and 2 mbps, while the low WMV and Quicktime are displayed at 360x200 and 850 kbps. Also on the video page is a link to the screencap set. They are shown at 720x400, although they look a bit odd because they're getting scaled in the browser – just right click and view image to see a pretty good quality cap. The photo sets are in their own section, and are good quality. They are shown at 800x1200, and do a very good job at capturing the personality that Tommy and friends have. One thing that would have been nice to see with both types of pictures would be either a slideshow or a zip download to enjoy them easier.

Tommy D does not skimp out on extras either. The two that caught my eye first are the tabs for blog and live. There's a pretty big dearth of good gay solo amateur sites out there, and moreso ones with actual interaction. The blog does read like a personal blog instead of the weird paysite blogs that some sites add in. He talks about all sorts of things, and it seems like the poor boy has gotten sick twice in the past two months. That's gotta be a horrible way to spend a summer. There are also behind the scenes videos here, so you really get a sense of who Tommy is. The live cam got me excited, but I got a bit confused when it took me to PrivateCamz with some random guy's profile. It turns out that he does do member's shows there (if you dig in the blog you see him talking about it) but they just don't post a schedule.

Finally there's six great exclusive bonus sites, each with a different theme for variety. Cody Cummings is a bisexual solo amateur who has a ton of fun fucking guys and girls at his site. Next Door Male shows off amateur straight guys jerking off. Next Door Hookups is straight sex filmed for gay guys. Next Door Buddies is amateur hunk sex, and finally Stroke That Dick is straight amateur guy masturbation.

Conclusion

Tommy D & Friends is a very solid site featuring the perfect gay guy next door. This solo hottie might not be an actual amateur with so many years in the porn industry, but he does have that personality and look that would make you fall in love with him no matter what. There are a few small features that would be nice to see, but overall this is an excellent site.
